Serving Your City
There are times I get overwhelmed with the situations that the world is currently facing and I feel powerless. I spend so much time reflecting, arguing, ranting and trying to find a solution to the big problems (not in any specific order), but it is just wasted time.
When I was in college I met a few friends who would go 2x a week to Downtown Dallas to minister homeless people. I went a few times. I was overwhelmed by the situation that many were in. Some didn't choose to be homeless. One day life through them a curve ball and they found themselves with nothing. Even with no one to help.
Fast forward a few years - I am back in my beautiful city, from grad school, and I find myself telling God: "Now what?" I am expecting Him to show me the next step that will lead me to a door opening in my career, but instead He is showing me the pain and need in my city.
I can complain all my life or help out someone in need.
I reached out to my friend David, who is one of the leaders at West End Church, and said my church and I are ready to help. Its going to be 2 years in December that we started to prepare food to take to the people of West End once every month.
We can't changed the world but we can sure make a difference one life at a time. So why not start in your city.
